Weekend

Hopefully the Ironhead will be ready for the summer, at least at the moment I'm trying to make as much as possible in the weekends.

Sportster updates

This is the newest pictures from my fathers Sportster project.

The engine has been disasseblyed for blasting of the crank case, now the aluminum is nice and grey, and it's time for assembly

The cyllinders got a fresh new layer of paint.

After installing the new handlebar at my Ironhead Pocket Rocket, I gave the old handlebar grips to my father. They fits his project very well.

This is not exactly a commercial for Betsafe.com, actually I have never been visiting their homepage, and in fact I'm not a big gambler : )

BUT a few days ago I saw their new commercial "The two man duel", and I found it very catchy ! I really like the setup with these guys challenging each other, especially the peak when the older guy pulls up a big crap from his pants, with blood on his knuckles, steady eyes and a victorious smile !



And even better than the setup is the choice of music, in these 50seconds the commercial last I became a fan of Alan Mills. The track is called "Clear the track, let the bullgine run"

This recording is from 1957, same year as the Ironhead was made, Elvis bought Graceland and the Soviet Union launches Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite to orbit the earth.

Along the road

At the moment I'm working in Sweeden. A couple of days ago I was driving to the airport, when I suddently along the road saw a nice old Caltex gas station !

Can't wait

I almost can't wait to kickstart the Ironhead and hit for the roads : ) hopefully this will be a great summer !

It's dangerous sitting all day looking at eBay, you always find something that you need. "Luckily" I can't afford most of the things, but it's always good with some appetizers : )

Year 2011 - let it be a good one.

Ironhead updates

I am happy for the result so far 

The headligt and bracket is now painted black

The new handlebar is a 1946-1948 Speedster handlebar, as the first thing after the arrival I chopped it up 12cm to make it a litle bit more narrow, I think the result is great !

To make the control leavers more classic I painted the bracket  black, and installed cadium plated steel clamps instead og the aluminum ones.

Parts on order

As posted earlier, I ordered a speedster handlebar for my Ironhead project. It was shipped monday together with a lot of other parts, so hopefully it will arrive soon. I think it will suit the bike perfect.

I really like the look of the old hillclimpers with curved handlebars, squared floorboards and small gas tanks.

Winter

The last couple of weeks I have been to Norway working, and to my surprice no snow showed up untill the last day during my stay.

I'm not a big fan of snow, so actually I enjoyed the nice weather, while Denmark got a big spray all over the country. But I have to admit that the snow can be really beautyful !

And I belive sometimes it's a real pleasure to get rid of the it !

Seat

As posted earlyer, I chopped down an original seat pan for the Ironhead project. In the beginning of this week I painted and sew the seat.
Wednesday I quickly shot some pictures because I was in a big rush traveling to Norway working, therfore it's not the best pitures, but I think it's better than nothing - I'll post some pictures of the seat installed later.

Swapmeet

Yesterday I went to a swapmeet in Herning, together with James and Cay. We had a good time, and each one of us found some usefull parts.
I found some old army handlebar grips, so hopefully I will soon recieve the speedster handlebar that I ordered. I'm really surpriced how good the green colour fit the brown colour on the tank.
I also bought an uplock hook for my rear stand, a cool old detail.

Air horn

The teardrop air horn was a little too shiney for the bike. I grinded the chrome a little bit, so now it's better.

Fresh paint

Today I painted my floorboads and installed the rubber inserts.

Pedals

A couple of weeks ago I found two clutch pedals from 1929. I have cleaned up the metal and made a few modifications. Now they will work as brake and gear pedals on the Ironhead.



One of the pedals was repaired with some heavy sheet metal, therefore I choped it off, shaped some new metal for the pedal and installed a homemade aliminum pad.
