Ironhead updates

I am happy for the result so far 

The headligt and bracket is now painted black

The new handlebar is a 1946-1948 Speedster handlebar, as the first thing after the arrival I chopped it up 12cm to make it a litle bit more narrow, I think the result is great !

To make the control leavers more classic I painted the bracket  black, and installed cadium plated steel clamps instead og the aluminum ones.

Parts on order

As posted earlier, I ordered a speedster handlebar for my Ironhead project. It was shipped monday together with a lot of other parts, so hopefully it will arrive soon. I think it will suit the bike perfect.

I really like the look of the old hillclimpers with curved handlebars, squared floorboards and small gas tanks.

Winter

The last couple of weeks I have been to Norway working, and to my surprice no snow showed up untill the last day during my stay.

I'm not a big fan of snow, so actually I enjoyed the nice weather, while Denmark got a big spray all over the country. But I have to admit that the snow can be really beautyful !

And I belive sometimes it's a real pleasure to get rid of the it !

Seat

As posted earlyer, I chopped down an original seat pan for the Ironhead project. In the beginning of this week I painted and sew the seat.
Wednesday I quickly shot some pictures because I was in a big rush traveling to Norway working, therfore it's not the best pitures, but I think it's better than nothing - I'll post some pictures of the seat installed later.

Swapmeet

Yesterday I went to a swapmeet in Herning, together with James and Cay. We had a good time, and each one of us found some usefull parts.
I found some old army handlebar grips, so hopefully I will soon recieve the speedster handlebar that I ordered. I'm really surpriced how good the green colour fit the brown colour on the tank.
I also bought an uplock hook for my rear stand, a cool old detail.

Air horn

The teardrop air horn was a little too shiney for the bike. I grinded the chrome a little bit, so now it's better.

Fresh paint

Today I painted my floorboads and installed the rubber inserts.

Pedals

A couple of weeks ago I found two clutch pedals from 1929. I have cleaned up the metal and made a few modifications. Now they will work as brake and gear pedals on the Ironhead.



One of the pedals was repaired with some heavy sheet metal, therefore I choped it off, shaped some new metal for the pedal and installed a homemade aliminum pad.

Cay just foward me these pictures of my gas tank - the logos are almost finish, I really think it looks great !
This tank is just perfect for the bike ! I just realized that the frame will be 80 years old next year : )

I have to admit that I'm not an artist, but Cay Broendum really is !
He is in the proccess painting the flying diamond logos on each side of my gas tank. I'm really looking forward to see the result.

Ironhead friend

My ironhead is lucky to have a new freind. My father just started an Ironhead project of his own. This bike will be build with inspiration from the original Sportsters from the early 60's.

The frame and swingarm was sand blasted last week, and now it got a fresh new layer of paint

Christmas party

The last week I have been very busy studying to be prepared for the examinations at the 3. semester at the Danish aviation school for aircraft engineers. We were examined in High speed aerodynamics, Aircraft structure and Aircraft systems.
Everybody in the class passed the tests with good results.

For the celebration we had a great party at my place, luckily for us this was also the release day of TUBORG Christmas brew. 05.11.2010 8.59 PM. As you might be able to see we had a very good time !
