Oil tank; Part II
Yesterday I made yet another detail for my upcoming oil tank.
To add some spice to the top of the oil tank I made an aluminum cover to be mounted around the filler cap:

Ironhead Project
The projects as it is now. I really think tht everything is gtting very nice on this bike, no doubt about this Sportster will be a really nice ol' skool bike : )
The handlebar grips are all rubber and the old look fits the bike very well.
I removed the 1931 headligh because it was very hard to find the parts I needed for the assembly.
Another thing is that the cost of a brand new WLC headlight assy, is even less than the missing parts for the other one. So I bourght a new hedlight, and I think it fits the bike even better.
OF COURSE it will be painted black, I don't know why it's chrome when you buy it ! haha : )
On the lefthand side of the handlebar I mounted a round mirror, which Claus Maul-Jakobsen gave me. Thank you Claus.

Oil tank; Part I
My oil tank for the pocket rocket is in the progress. With inspiration from the battery boxes in the early 30's I'm making the oiltank squared.
I started to bend some sheet metals in the correct dimentions for the bike.
I decided to devide the box into two chambers.
By doing this I can use one chamber for circut brakers, wire assembly and the ignition switch.
With inspiration from the aviation I made an inspection hole in the end of the box. I made it as a combined access door and bracket for the ignition switch.

On top of the tank I welded in a pipe with a brass fitting as oil cap. I still need to make a few more details for the top, but I think things is getting very nice so far.
